LTCPA RULES

  

1. Team entries must be received by Monday 6:00 p.m. prior to the scheduled show start time (email or fax only). Any cancellations later than this will be subject to a $50.00 cattle fee before you ride in another LTCPA show.


2. Substitutions allowed for the season will based only on medical or compassionate grounds and must be approved by the board. Medical subs can be any LTCPA member of the same or lower number and must be the same person for the duration of the medical condition. All medical or compassionate substitutions may be used in Team point accumulation.


3. There will be a $100 work levy to be to be made out in cheque form to the LTCPA. (2 x - $50.00 cheques) these cheques will only be cashed at the end of the season if you fail to volunteer or help out in some form throughout the season. (We need approximately five hours of time from each member to have our shows run smoothly.


4. All show entries and inquiries with regards to show entries are entered through the Show Treasurer via email at lakelandteampenning@gmail.com. The Show Secretary, Dianne Dube.


5.  LTCPA Finals:


In order to qualify in the LTCPA Finals in any class, a member must:


     a. Compete in a MINIMUM of 4 LTCPA Sanctioned Shows


     b. Ride a MINIMUM of 3 runs in EACH of the 4 qualifying Sanctioned Shows at para 5a


     c. MUST have ridden a MINIMUM  of 1 run in any specific class in the 4 qualifying shows at para 5a in order to qualify to ride in that specific class at the Finals


(This would exclude the Youth as some associations do not have a Youth class and some associations have different qualifications to compete at the National Finals)


Year End Prizes will be awarded based on point standings accumulated by teams during the regular season shows (excluding the Saturday and Sunday Jackpots of the Finals weekend.  The same three team members must ride together at a minimum of four LTCPA shows to qualify for team year-end prizes.  (A “show” is considered a Saturday or a Sunday). Points are accumulated for all shows attended (not including the September finals), the more shows you attend the more points you accumulate.   


6. Prizes will be given out at the awards held in September. We will be awarding prizes to the top two teams for team points and buckles to the Champion Team. An over all, two-run, fast time-team prize will also be awarded. Buckles will be awarded for Individual total yearly points to a # 1, 2, 3 & 4 & up (Open) rated riders


7. The Season format for classes is as follows:

8. Entry fees for the Season are:


     $40 / rider for the Open & 8 Incentive, 10, 7 & 5 Class


     Jr. Youth Class - (under 12 years of age as of Jan.1, of the current year)

     Maximum of two entries - free of charge


     Senior Youth Class – (13-16 years old as of January 1, of the current year)

     Maximum of two entries - free of charge


     2 + 1 Class (Two #1 rated riders will ride with a #3 rated rider or higher via a draw)

     Maximum of 6 runs

     $20 / rider


All youth under the age of 16 for the penning season is able to ride with the seniors for $15.00 per ride, up to three rides.


NEW, FREE one time LTCPA Membership for new riders with NO PREVIOUS CTCPA membership. We are also encouraging new penners by offering $15.00 per rider for previously non-rated riders, in any class to a maximum of three rides. (The LTCPA will add the $25.00 entry shortfall to the payout.) Additional entries will be at $40.00 per rider


By request to the Rating Coordinator, a beginner rider (No previous Team Cattle Penning experience and NO previous CTCPA rating) may ask to be rated a Novice to ride in the 5 class ONLY up to a maximum of 6 shows, following the 6 shows they will automatically be rated a #1 or higher. The Novice rider would be considered a #0 rating and would ride in the 5 class with 2 other riders who’s combined ratings did not exceed 5


9. No member will be allowed to compete unless their entry fees are paid in full


10. There will be a $50.00 charge for any NSF cheque. That fee must be paid before you will be allowed to compete in another LTCPA show


11. Each rider is ultimately responsible for their own entry fees


12. Shows are scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and 9:00 am Sunday (May change if necessary


13. The Open, Ten, Seven, Five and 2+1 Classes will be one run and the top 50% back for a second run. Large number of entries in any class may be reduced to 30% back. The Youth class will have two full runs each day


14. You must be a paid up LTCPA/CTCPA member to compete. (LTCPA will pay portion of one-time entry fees for previous non-rated new riders)


15. Your CTCPA rating card must be visible on your saddle at all times during competition. This excludes New Members who are trying out cattle penning for the first time – 2 shows only allowed


16. All participants 18 years of age and younger must wear helmets


17. Time allowed for the Open, Ten, 2+1 and Seven Classes will be 60 seconds per run. The Five Class will be 75 seconds. The Junior and Senior Youth will be 90 seconds


18. Any charges for an ambulance trip are the responsibility of the rider/injured person, they will not be covered by the LTCPA


19. LTCPA promotes good sportsmanship and it will be at the board’s discretion to disqualify or refuse participation of any member acting in an un-sportsmanlike manner or using offensive language. This also includes any misuse or abuse of animals


20. Smoking is not allowed in the arena or enclosed stalls at any LTCPA shows. Smoking must be outside and 5 meters away from any buildings. Alcohol is NOT allowed in the arena area


21. Stalls are $25.00 per horse for the weekend, excluding the Cold Lake box stalls which are at the rate of $25.00 per night (rate set by the Cold Lake Ag Society). Power will be charged at $20.00 for the weekend


22. No horse shorter than 12 hands high will be allowed to compete unless special permission is granted by the board


23. The LTCPA Board will NOT tolerate excessive drinking at any event. Anyone who does not follow the rules as laid out by the LTCPA Board will be asked to leave the association


24. # of Payout spots are based on the number of teams entered:


10, 7, 5 & 2+1 Class Payouts

1 – 10 teams will pay 2 places

11 – 20 teams will pay out 3 places

21-30 teams will pay 4 places

31-40 teams will pay out 5 places and

41 teams and more will pay out 6 places


Open Class Payouts

2 spots for 1-20 teams

3 spots for 21-30 teams

4 spots for 31-40 teams and;

5 spots for 41 or more teams

Maximum of 5 places paid
